Lacrosse is an ancient Native American activity that was traditionally used to gather multiple tribes together around a common game to settle differences, select leaders, negotiate trade and express honor and worship of the Creator, from whom the game was gifted. In 1636 the Catholic missionary Jean de Brebeuf named the Native Stickball game "la crosse" recognizing it as a form of worship as the Native player carried "the crosse" in honor of the Creator. Canadian Dentist George Beers created rules for the modern game in 1867 and presented it to Queen Victoria of England who helped promote lacrosse throughout the United Kingdom, which included the colleges and universities of North America.

in 2020 A young girl on the East side of Uganda named Lucy reached out to express her love for lacrosse. This began the Peace Lacrosse the World Campaign. now With now over 70 youth academies working together to develop a vibrant community of lacrosse in East Africa, the PLWC serves as a voluntary supporter for the youth leadership efforts developing in the East African countries. Offering mentorship as well as the voluntary gifts of time, talents and treasures from the people who join together with the PLWC to help the youth of East Africa change their world through the game and community of lacrosse.
